  • Stockport boasts the UK's only hat museum, the "Hat Works" based in Wellington Mill - a thriving hat factory in Victorian times.
  • Stockport Viaduct is one of the Western Europe's biggest brick structures. It consists of 11,000,000 bricks. The structure is Grade II* listed.
  • Stockport is the birthplace of the late tennis player, Fred Perry. Perry is the last Briton to win both the Men's Singles titles at Wimbledon and the US Open (both in 1936).
