Historic and vibrant maritime city extensively rebuilt after World War Two

Are you looking for things to do in Plymouth? If you are, then you've just found the best online resource for Plymouth and all cities across the UK.

Known for...   Plymouth Gin, The Barbican and Pilgrim Fathers

Did you know...

  • Since it is a major port, the city was the rendezvous of the anti-Armada fleet in 1588 and the place where famous explorers such as Sir Francis Drake, Sir Richard Hawkins, Sir Walter Raleigh departed.
  • Plymouth boasts the oldest working commercial bakery in the world. Jacka’s of Southside Street on the Barbican were baking at the time of the Armada (1588) and baked biscuits for the voyage of the Pilgrim Fathers in 1620.
  • Plymouth’s Roman Catholic Cathedral was designed by Joseph Hansom who also designed the world’s first taxi - as in a 'Hansom Cab'.
