Things to do in Liverpool

One of the world's most iconic and culturally rich cities. Are you looking for things to do in Liverpool? We've got plenty of great ideas for you across the city.

Liverpool is the proud owner a glorious maritime history, world-beating musical heritage, two of the Premiership’s biggest football teams and not one, but two majestically different Cathedrals. It's not hard to see why Liverpool was voted European Capital of Culture 2008. The city has recently undergone a multi-million pound development and is now teaming with fabulous new shops, lively new restaurants, hip hotels and trendy wine bars, as well as a world class cultural offering with more museums and galleries anywhere outside of London. On top of all this the local Liverpudlians are renowed for their friendliness and will make any visitor feel at home.

Known for...   Anfield, River Mersey, The Beatles, Maritime history, Liverbird building, Albert Docks and Liverpool FC

Did you know...

  • John Lennon was born during an air raid on Liverpool on October 9 1940.
  • The bells in Liverpool Cathedral are the heaviest in the world.
  • Scouse is a type of stew. It was eaten by Liverpudlians living in poverty before the 1900s. Ingredients include lamb or beef, cabbage, carrot, potatoes and onion.

“'It's both fun & educational for kids. It's quite cheap and you can combine it with the Mersey Ferry too for a great day out. They often have an offer whereby if you buy an adult ferry & Spaceport ticket, a kid goes free as well. There's opportunity to see what thing weigh on other planets and how much you weigh on other planet, there's lots of details about the planet, a fab simulator ride which is really fun, they often have exhibitions too such as Doctor Who and Wallace & Gromit in the past and I think it's currently Star Wars. It's a great fun filled day.'”
